Virginia Utermohlen Lovelace MD obtained her undergraduate degree in physics from Washington University in St. Louis, and her medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. After an internship, residency, and chief residency in pediatrics, she was appointed a post-doctoral fellow at Rockefeller University, and thereafter moved to Cornell University, from which she recently retired as Associate Professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences, College of Human Ecology.
My background in teaching includes forty years of classes and workshops at Cornell University, in biology and biochemistry, nutrition, social studies, and the humanities, for which I wrote both texts and lab manuals.
I am proud to say that in the process I garnered numerous teaching awards, including the State University of New York's Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Outside Cornell, I have organized and delivered numerous presentations and workshops for both scientific and lay audiences. Notably I have been invited to give workshops at several Word Tea Expos. (Image below from World Tea Expo 2012.)
At the request of the World Tea Academy, I prepared materials for ADV.02 Understanding the Organoleptic Experience, a required course for World Tea Academy Advanced Certification.

I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience in research and writing to beverage industries.
Previous work I have carried out includes:
an extensive research project with drill-down data analysis concerning the tastes of water and water preferences for a nationally famous water filter company; participation in new flavor brainstorming for a prominent candy company; data analysis on flavor preferences and food and beverage choices for the wine industry; and most recently, for tea, development of blends along with their names and associated flavor profiles for a fledgeling wholesale and retail tea company.
Could I do the same kind of work for you? Let me know!
PS: As VU Designs, I also create websites, like this one.
